What are uninsured appointments?
The Medical Services Plan covers most “necessary” medical services. MSP, however does not include to following services:
- Cosmetic procedures
- Physicals required for work and driver’s licensing
**Note: If you make an appointment for an uninsured service, please be aware that you will be responsible for any charges.
Kindly review all forms, ensure your sections have been completed and signed.
Most forms from employers and insurance companies can be dropped off or scanned/ e-mailed for completion.
If we have sufficient information, they can be completed without an appointment. If we need more information, however, you will be asked to make an appointment.
Any forms that specifically require a physical examination require an appointment 20 minute, including Driver or Occupational Exams.
Fees for forms are due before completion.
Sick notes for absence from school or work are for prolonged illnesses. You do not need to be seen if you are only sick for a few days and don’t need medical care.
**Note: You will have to be billed for a full visit if only purpose it to obtain a note you do make an appointment solely for the purpose of obtaining a note,(about $30), as MSP does not pay for this service. We ask that Employers please not use scarce medical services in an attempt to police employees’ sick leave. The usual fee for Time Loss Certificates is $20
Selecting the right uninsured service
Fees for all uninsured services are subject to change at the current Doctors of BC rate.
If payment cannot be made in full and alternate payment schedule may be negotiated.
